"Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?"
"Yes,
Lord, you know that I love you."
"Then
feed my lambs."

21:15
“If we love Jesus, and we say that we do, His
message is clear: build my Church; take care of each other.”

God looks at that person and then looks at Jesus and cannot tell the
difference."

What
is "Mary's Legacy?"
"Mary’s Legacy" outreach program extends our Blessed
Mother's "Yes." It allows us to continue her work of bringing
Love
into this world...by affirming life, by assisting those who help others, and
by promoting life-giving ministries.
How does "Mary's
Legacy" work?
|
v |
We share
information about activities and events that are sponsored by
organizations and individuals dedicated to helping others and assisting
others to help themselves. |
|
v |
The Mary's Touch
Ministry at Emmaus Catholic Church was established in April 2007. This
ministry extends the work of Mary’s Touch and Mary’s Touch outreach
programs to the parish level. The primary focus of Mary’s Touch Ministry
is to promote the Mary’s Touch radio programs, to reach out to the poor
and homeless, to provide a forum and creative support for charities, and
to assist in planning avenues for outreach. Additionally, the Mary’s
Touch Ministry works with the Rosary Ministry in distributing handmade
Rosaries (which are available free of charge upon request). Other
activities of the ministry include organizing book discussions,
providing Mary-related lecture and discussion information, and assisting
parochial schools and faith formation groups in accomplishing their
fundraising goals. For more information on forming a Mary's Touch
Ministry in your parish, contact Cheri Lomonte at
cheri@marystouch.org. |
|
v |
We provide
information to the Catholic radio stations playing Mary's Touch so they
can promote these ministries and their events. |
|
v |
Currently, we
are working to provide Marypods (MP3 players with a selection of the
Mary's Touch programs) to the homeless in Austin, TX.
For more
information on Marypods, contact Cheri Lomonte at

How can I use
"Mary's Legacy" to promote a life-giving ministry in my community?

Aids
Alive®
AIDS Alive®
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the memory of Robert
M. Gillin, Jr.
One of nine children, Bob was the oldest son of an upper-middle-class, Catholic family
living in in Bryn Mawr, PA. He was an exceptional student and athlete and attended the Haverford
School, where he was a member of the varsity crew team that represented the U.S. Crew Team at Henley. Bob was
also known for his leadership
skills and served as school president for both his junior and senior years.
At his graduation in 1981, he received Haverford's Ken Man
Award, an honor voted on by the senior class and faculty of the school
and
given to the student demonstrating traits of outstanding character,
scholarship, intelligence, and leadership. Four
years later, Bob
earned a B.A. in English from Georgetown University and went on to complete
the Credit Training Program at Morgan Guarantee in New York, where he also
established his
own architectural and interior design firm.
In 1990, Bob was diagnosed with
AIDS. Soon afterwards, he moved home to be with his loving family, who cared for him
during his illness. Bob's deep appreciation and zest for life, coupled with
his unique gift for making others feel joyful, carried him through his
illness. During that time, he
taught his family and friends many lessons about compassion and acceptance.
On
October 27, 1992, at age 30, Bob left this world and his loving
family. His death reminds us
that AIDS does not
discriminate.
AIDS Alive
provides
resources to help people deal
with the psychological, emotional, and spiritual struggles that accompany
HIV/Aids.
AIDS Alive has a three-pronged mission:
1. To raise
awareness and promote prevention, particularly among those who feel they are
not impacted by HIV/AIDS
2. To raise
resources to support organizations that address the psychological,
emotional, and spiritual aspects of this disease
3. To educate
people about the 4
A's
of HIV/AIDS:
Acceptance:
Accepting one's self and recognizing that there are seeds of greatness in
each of us
Affection:
A mutual respect between youth and parents and an understanding of trust in
the family
Accountability:
To be responsible for your choices no matter what the consequences
Abstinence:
A call to action that challenges youth to have the courage to abstain from
alcohol, drugs, and pre-marital sex

Majella Society
Promoting Life through the media…
Through mass media campaigns, the Majella Society successfully promotes a
culture of life. Surveys conducted before and after Majella Society
media campaigns show an increase in pro-life attitudes in the markets where
promotional spots are aired. Since its inception in 2004, the Majella
Society has launched six campaigns using TV, outdoor, and internet
advertising in Austin and San Antonio, TX. This translates into more than
4,500 commercials on major networks and cable stations in markets that reach
a viewing audience of over 3,000,000 adults, ages 18 to 49. Advertising on
240 billboards reached over 6,000,000 viewers, and more than 215,000 teens have
visited the
www.teenbreaks.com Web site, making
it the most visited of its kind in the United States. On
average, more than 12,000 hits are recorded for the Web site per month—that
translates into more than 400 visits per day.
In the past two years, Majella Society has provided speakers for education
events, raised $325,000 to create a challenge grant for marketing in
Houston, TX, and met a similar goal for the San Antonio market.
